The price of failing to help these children is ultimately one which our entire society must pay. We lose bright, intelligent minds that could contribute to our future.

The earlier the intervention, the better the strategies will benefit the individual. A recent research study “Putting a Canadian Face on Learning Disabilities” (PACFOLD) completed in 2006 discovered that the result of poor intervention is often seen with indivduals as:

  • Failure in school
  • Failure to achieve high literacy levels
  • More likely to be involved in criminal activities and in the justice system
  • More likely to report overall lower mental health
  • Less likely to succeed at work
  • More likely to be unemployed or earn less

Early assessment and intervention will reduce the incidences of failure.

If you suspect your child or someone you know has a learning disability, have him or her tested as soon as possible.
