- People don’t outgrow Learning Disabilities, however they do learn strategies for success;
- People with Learning Disabilities have the right to learn;
- Learning Disabilities can run in families and present differently for each individual;
- People with Learning Disabilities have average to above average intelligence;
- People with Learning Disabilities can learn to read, write, complete school and go on to successful lives.
- You understand your child better than anyone else and know they have potential;
- Do not expect others to understand your concerns;
- You have the right to ask questions and expect results. Be persistent;
- You are not alone. Many support groups are available to work with you;
- There is no need to blame or feel guilty. Simply understand the problem, then work towards a solution;
- The solution is not an overnight “fix”. It may take years;
- Your child has a hopeful future.
